Hello!

To all the folks visiting to my little window upon chaos: THANK YOU! You reading this means I’m not talking to myself. Typing to myself. Whatever.

Going Viking!

Don’t panic all you Scifi, Post Apocalyptic, Pulp, VSF, Steampunk, or even Cowpunk miniatures fans! I’m taking a little break to get up some photos of recently completed “Viking” figures. To easily differentiate between warbands they were color coded: one group had lots of blue in their garb and equipment, another had lots of red, another green and yet another black. It's a common enough technique for telling one player's troops from another when there were no "uniforms". Rome vs. barbarians is easy enough, but Dane vs. Dane before 1066 ain't, especially when everybody is an inch tall. ;)

And this is what they’re currently being pushed around the table to: SONG OF BLADES AND HEROES [link]

<rant>
AAAAARRRRGH! Why do so many of the well-sculpted 28mm “Viking” ranges have so many figures with swords? And chain shirts? And why are there so few figures with knives? According to archeological evidence, swords and chain armor were really expensive, and were status symbols. Spears and knives, on the other hand, were cheaper and easier to make. So it would seem likely that spears and knives were seen more often on the battlefield than swords and shirts of chain. Yet even packs of figures labeled “thralls” (slaves) have figures with swords! And no knives! AAAAARRRRGH, again!
</rant>

NO HORNS! AND NO WINGS ON THOSE THINGS, EITHER! [link]

Ah, well. Enough of this. There are figures that need painting! Talk amongst yourselves.

Thank you!

It's not that hard. Think of the figure as a page from a coloring book in 3D. Just try to keep it in the "lines". The toughest bit are the eyes. :)

You are quite welcome! It was a reminder that I'm going to have to build a longhouse in 28mm scale before the year is out.

You're welcome!

Yes, and I have the entire series on DVD when Pioneer released it in 2002 and a few episodes on a crappy VHS tape long before that. Favorite episodes: 4 (Mrs. Hundon is Taken Hostage) & 10 (Air Battle over Dover). Long time Miyazaki fan! :D
